Georgia's Key Features:
Georgia has a few key geographic features. They include the Fall Line, the Okefenokee Swamp, the Appalachian Mountains, the Chattahoochee and Savannah Rivers, and the Barrier Islands. The Fall Line is where hills of mountains and lands meet the Coastal Plain. It runs from Columbus to Augusta and creates a big waterfall. The Okefenokee Swamp was once part of the Atlantic Ocean. An interesting fact about it is that the water is staying black because of decaying vegetation. The Appalachian Mountain chain starts in Georgia and ends in Maine. The Appalachian Trail is 2,015 miles long. The Chattahoochee River is Georgia's most important river. The Savannah River was extremely important to Georgia's early European settlers. And finally the Barrier Islands surround Georgia's coastline. They were used to build forts against enemy countries like Spain in earlier days.
